Taking The Plunge

Yes my friends, I have started my own Etsy shop. You can visit it here! My hopes for it are simple. I just want to add a little to the family income while doing something I enjoy. It gives me a reason to go thrifting and if I find something awesome that I cant pass up but dont need, I can still buy it! Haha! I dont plan on making big bucks and I hope my prices reflect that. Anyways, mosey on over and take a peek and add me to your circle and all that good social network stuff. Below is a few things in the shop currently.

Where To Begin?

As Ive said hubby came home on R&R and we did some things that I wanted him to be there for like Lil C's allergy test. It was a skin prick test and if you have ever had one, you know they suck. They prick your back with dozens upon dozens of stuff you could be allergic to and make you wait there while your back is itchy and hurts. Turns out, hes allergic to pretty much everything he likes to eat: wheat, bananas, oranges, peas, peanuts, oats, soy, peaches, onions, shrimp, corn, squash and probably more. I keep having to refer to the test results because its so bizarre to me. Who is allergic to corn? Special diet here we come!
We also went to see his developmental pediatrician and he was officially diagnosed with PDD-NOS which is on the autism spectrum. I always knew as a Mommy always does but its still hard to accept/admit. Therefore in addition to all the rest of what has to be taken out of his diet Im also taking out dairy/casein. Theres an "autism" diet that many have seen awesome results with and since its only one more thing to take out I figured its worth a shot. It limits an already limited special diet because of his allergies but if it helps Im willing to give it a go. Special diets have been known to help many diseases and help people live the best lives they can so it makes sense to me. Im not going to get too detailed about it. Just know that probably a good 80% of our food is going to come from Whole Foods or online specialty stores which is going to be pretty pricey for a family of 4. Yep, we're all going to do this diet. All for one and one for all.
If you read all this and are still with me, heres a few goodies I have found as of late!

Time Sure Does Fly

Whoa. I havent had a new post in a while. Not that I havent been thrifting, and definitely not because I dont have anything to say, I just, well, got busy, out of the habit, or became lazy. Call it what you will. I also enjoyed 2 weeks of my husband being home! It went way too quick, but only a few more months to go. Ive actually gotten so much within the past month or two, and my hubs spoiled me a lil while he was here which was nice. Ill do my best to catch you up with the goodies, though it might take another post or two. Also some things are for sale! Im thinking about opening up my own Etsy shop but Ive been procrastinating on that as well. I really want to contribute to the fams funds, and if nothing else offset my own *ahem* habits. If you see something thats up for sale, and you want to inquire about it, please do!

I picked up this rhinestone number in the hopes that perhaps I could be June Carter Cash for Halloween or something but it doesnt fit. Labeled a size 16 but fits a little smaller than that. Not a rhinestone missing! It is for sale!

I loved the print of this one.

This dress appears to be home made. I love the neckline but it needs a belt to give it some shape.

Picked this straw bag up at Goodwill and have been carrying it almost everyday since. Look at the inside lining! So cute!

This LBD has a sheer draped neckline and two rhinestone bows on each side! I dont often have a place to wear LBDs to but no this isnt for sale.

Both of these were a total of $1 plus tax. Steal.

These were bought off Etsy via Kitty Von Purrs store. If you havent checked out her goodies, you should. Her sales help pay for her cancer treatments.

I found this basket purse in Goodwill. Seriously, Goodwill has been good to me lately and it usually never is.
OK gals, thats it for now!

Vintage Glassware

Lately Goodwill and a few other thrift stores have been very good to me. Im going to break up my finds by catagories because Im far too lazy to post them all at once haha! Hey Im honest! These are the recent glassware goodies.

Termocrisa, Mexicos version of Fire King

Folky mugs

50s glasses. They arent in the best of shape but for 99 cents eh whatever. Sad thing is alot of the damage done was taking the dang tape off that they use to keep sets together. Anyone know of a better way to get the tape off? Maybe soaking them? Or maybe alcohol and cotton balls? WHY am I thinking of these things now? Let me know what you ladies do!

A Few Good Finds

So sorry for the lack of posts. My mind has been on other things. Mainly my husband coming home for R&R next month!!! Awesome that he will be home, sucky that its only for about 2 weeks. But Ill take it!
Anyhoo I found a new thrift store in town the other day. I think I might have seen it before but Im never in that area. One day we happened to be so me and the kids got our thrift on. I spent about $10 and this is what I got.

Forgive le dirt. I didnt clean them up before I took the photos doh! Anyways I found a Hakusan China cup and snackplate. So cute. I think they were made in the early 40s but not sure. Anyone know?

Two wooden tiki masks for a hangin'. One is a lil chipped and doesnt have the hook anymore but the chip adds to the charm and Im sure I can add a hook later.

6 more plates to add to the 24 pieces I found at Goodwill last year. The pattern is called Platinum Starburst and I believe these were made in 1935.

New (to me) Glasses

First off I have to say, where does the time go? I get busy and put off blogging and the next thing I know weeks have gone by. I read blogs, but didnt have the motivation to actually write anything myself even though I have had some things to say. ::sigh::
Anyways this is my 100th post! Break out the cyber streamers and noise makers!

Now that thats out of the way I can show you the new to me glasses I got a while back. I got them from the guy that I bought the lamps from. Im telling you he has a ton of stuff I want. Mostly pink pyrex and more glassware but since I have no where to display anything yet, and when I do it will be filled fast I need to restrain myself a lil.

Love em! Not the best of photos I know. Will we drink out of these? Probably not til the kids are older. Hide the glasses but use the two tiered shaded lamps you ask? Yeah my reasoning doesnt always make sense to even me. We dont really have room for more glasses in the cupboard but hopefully soon I will have my moms china cupboard and my 30s china and these sweet babies will hang out together soon. And by soon I mean hopefully in the next year or so. Your guess is as good as mine because we have to go pick it up. Im still thinking about some of the other glasses he has. If I can find the photos maybe Ill let everyone out in bloggerworld see why I keep buying from the same guy haha. XX

Coffee, Tea or Me?

I had promised a loooong ago to post photos of the goodies I got with the most generous $50 Ebay giftcard from Vintage Christines giveaway. Thing is, I have only spent a small portion of it. I know, right?! What am I waiting for?? It seems like when I have no money to spend, everything catches my fancy, and when I do I am a total schrewd with bidding. I did manage to get these super cute kitchen canisters. Practical and pretty!

New (And Old) Purchases

Sometimes I pick up things and never post about them. I figured this would be a swell time to get caught up!
I got this record rack recently for $6. I love it because I love collecting records and never had a real good place to put them.

At the antique mall here in Clarksville, one booth had a few of these old movie thangs in frames for $5. I wanted all of them but I chose this one: Cry Baby Killer with Jack Nicholson. I also got the tiki cup there as well.

I picked up this house dress which I completely adore. Except sometimes I see something my pre two baby body could have worn and think I can still fit into it. I drastically underestimated my two baby boobage factor. Possibly if I ever lose the weight from baby #2 I can wear it. I hope so.

I got this jewelry box for my daughter at Goodwill for less than $2! (Military gets a discount at Goodwill here. Thanks U.S Army!) I liked the way it looked on the outside but I was afraid to look inside. We've all seen the scungy gross jewelry box filth. This one looks like it was never used! It even has the key! My daughter already has a bracelet to go in it. (Given to her by the super nice lady in Nashville with all the bakelite - Wonders on Woodland.)

I also got this 1960s bellydance record at Goodwill for sixty cents. AWESOME! Ive always wanted to learn and if I ever do Ill have a record to dance to.

Vintage Goodness

I havent been able to post any of my finds from the last couple weeks. The hubs is back home and Ive been so busy but there are some goodies that Id like to share!

Got these vintage frames. Now all I need to do is make an appointment to get my peepers checked! Im not a flowery type of girl but for some reason I was drawn to these.

This cute purse has a little damage to the bottom strappy thing. (When you have mommy brains you loose the ability to summon up the words you used to have in your vocabulary, but you get the point. Anyway, I think it could be fixed and if not I at least saved it from sitting on a shelf gathering dust.

These flats are from Target. I love red shoes. With little ones flats are best but if it had a little wedge I think I would love them a little bit more.

I won these curtains off ebay a few weeks ago. I bought them for the house we dont yet own. Im not even sure if theyll fit on the windows but I took a chance. If not I guess I can always resell them?

I got one more exciting find but Ill have to save that for another day. Tootles!
