The Cats Meow Revisited

A long while back I purchased a pair of cat eye frames. I got them but I wasnt super pleased with how they fit on my face. I know they couldve probably adjusted them but I dont live with "probablies" in my life. Im a planner so I knew I had to sell them and get a different pair. I checked on Etsy and found a pair of tortoise frames with rhinestones from shop Vintage50sEyeWear that I wanted to give a whirl. BUT, I didnt have the money for them. So I messaged and asked (or begged, whichever you prefer) for a payment plan or even a swap. I had never done that before ever so I didnt have high hopes. I sent her pics of my pair of frames and she said it was a go - even Steven! I was soo excited. I finally got my new specs back last week. Im not sure they fit my face per se but ask me if I entirely care.

Also got this pair for when Im "unvintage". Be kind. It was late in the day by this time and I had dealt with many a poopy diaper.

So yeah, Im pleased so I thought Id share.

P.S This is the first time Ive had a photo of myself on my blog. Weird eh. No fancy tripod or camera for this girl. I dont ever plan to get one either!

  1. How cute are you! Love the new glasses! The cats eye glasses I use sit too high on my face, but hey, no one but the cat sees me, so no biggie lol...

I need to get new ones...

  6. Love both frames! Cats eyes are a bit strange when you first start wearing them as they sit differently on your face than modern glasses. I remember getting my first pair (which I had made into prescription sunglasses)and being really dissapointed when I put them on and thinking they looked weird. Now I love them and have 3 more pairs!
Thanks for your comment on my 'name' post BTW. You have a fabulous name! :)

  7. Clare - Thanks! I like my name but it sure gets tiring explaining it all the time.

Kim - Thank you! I was very excited to do a trade deal. My husband was happy that I didnt spend any more money on vintage frames too haha.

moviemag- I do as well and what was more surprising is everyone gawking at me in the store when I picked them up and tried them on. Cat eye frames may make a come back in Clarksville.

Miss Atomic - you got a deal! haha I can never find a pair that I like and can afford!

  10. Love the glasses- you should totally wear them all the time, even when you're not "vintage", LOL.

BTW- my bathroom must be very similar to yours- it's pink with a black tile border as well.

  12. Love the cat eyes! I have a black pair from the 50s that I wear whenever I am not wearing my contacts! I am always on the hunt for a silver-toned, aluminium pair by Art Craft with rhinestones! I have found a few on Etsy. They are either not in the best of shape or in great condition and too expensive! I know I will find "the ones" (and for a good price) one day!

I, too, love the pink tile! Talk about vintage perfection! I'm jealous! :)

  15. Both look great on you! That was really cool of the Seller to work a swap for you.

I have an enormous Charlie Brown head and have yet to find vintage glasses that don't make me look like a Mrs. Potato head wearing tiny glasses.

You should post more self shots. You're beautiful!
